Why this runs in your browser, not on a server

Photos often contain things you'd rather not hand to a stranger's server just to crop them. Altto skips that step completely — there's no server for it to go to.

How do I crop to a specific shape, like a square?
Pick one of the aspect-ratio presets (Square 1:1, 4:3 or 16:9) before adjusting the crop box — it'll snap to and stay locked to that shape as you drag the corners. Choose Free for no restriction at all.
Can I move and resize the crop area?
Yes — drag inside the box to move it, or drag any of the four corner handles to resize it. It's clamped so it can never go outside the image.
What size will my cropped image be?
Exactly the pixel dimensions shown under the crop box, taken from your original image's full resolution — not the smaller preview size shown on screen, so you don't lose quality by cropping tighter.
What image formats are supported?
JPG and PNG. The cropped output keeps the same format as your original, so a PNG's transparency is preserved rather than flattened.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No — nothing is ever uploaded. Your image is decoded and cropped entirely inside this browser tab using the canvas built into your browser. There's no server involved at all, so there's nothing for Altto to see, copy or keep.
Do you keep a copy of my image?
