A text file can hold anything from notes to a full manuscript — not something you’d want sitting on a stranger’s server just to make a PDF. Altto skips that step completely — there’s no server for it to go to.

Does this preserve my line breaks?
Yes — existing line breaks are kept, and any line too long for the page wraps automatically.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No — nothing is ever uploaded. The text is read and laid out entirely inside this browser tab. There's no server involved at all, so there's nothing for Altto to see, copy or keep.
Does it support other languages and special characters?
Standard Latin text works well. Characters outside the built-in PDF font's character set (some accented letters, non-Latin scripts, emoji) are replaced with “?” rather than breaking the conversion — for full accuracy with those, try HTML to PDF instead, which renders a wider character set.
How does pagination work?
Altto fills each A4 page with as many lines as fit, then starts a new page automatically — there's no page limit.
Can I control the font or size?
Not yet — this tool uses a clean, readable default so it's fast and works the same for everyone.
Do you keep a copy of my file?
No. There's no upload, so there's nothing on our side to keep. See the Privacy Policy for details.
